Centrum Sztuki Galeria EL w Elblągu zaprasza na wernisaż wystawy ,,Polacy. Uchwyceni / Zatrzymani'', który odbędzie się 11 września o godz. 18.00.
Wystawa jest dwugłosem kuratorskim. Komisarze wystawy – Tomasz Ferenc i Jarosław Denisiuk – zaproponowali spojrzenie na Polskę i Polaków ostatnich dwóch dekad z dwóch perspektyw: badawczych, dokumentujących oraz krytycznych, wyboru mediów czy tematu. Wśród artystów i prac zaproszonych do udziału w wystawie pojawi się cykl Rytuały przejścia Przemysława Pokryckiego, który jest jednym z najważniejszych dokumentalnych zestawów fotografii, opowiadających o współczesnych Polakach. Równie istotne w obszarze fotografii dokumentalnej lub, jak niektórzy to określają socjologicznej, są fotografie duetu Redzisz/Bereżecka, funkcjonującego pod nazwą Zorka Project. Spośród licznych cykli, które stworzyły artystki, na wystawie zaprezentowany zostanie zestaw fotografii zatytułowany Matki. Inną opowieść o polskości proponuje Michał Przeździk-Buczkowski. Jego prace z cyklu Ostatnia wieczerza zdają się ponownie formułować pytanie o to, co to znaczy, że Polska jest krajem katolickim, co znaczy być chrześcijaninem, co kryje się za świętymi obrazami; czy jest to jedynie idolatria, czy też stoją za nimi głębokie wartości. Małe formy filmowe Dariusza Gapskiego, noszące znamiona wręcz ruchomych fotografii ukazują Polskę prowincjonalną, a jednocześnie bardzo swojską, znaną, osadzoną w tradycji. Obraz ten uzupełnia i jednoczenie komplikuje cykl Disco Renaty Dąbrowskiej. Ostatni z artystów, Marek Domański, posługując się techniką still video, sportretował łódzkich robotników.
Fotografię konfrontujemy z pracami The Krasnals, najbardziej chyba radykalną grupą artystyczną działająca współcześnie w Polsce. Na wystawie zobaczymy osławioną już Bitwę pod Grunwaldem. Przekazujemy nową, zaktualizowaną wersję Bitwy pod Grunwaldem Jana Matejki. Wykorzystując znane każdemu Polakowi dzieło, relacjonujemy pierwszą dekadę XXI w. Obraz, w rozmiarze nieco większym od oryginału (430×990 cm – dziesięć części 215×198 cm), jest komentarzem do otaczającego nas świata, w którym możemy zaobserwować permanentną walkę o władzę, nihilizm oraz upadek wszelkich wartości, w klimacie rodem z obrazów Hieronima Boscha. To komentarz do rzeczywistości już po okresie transformacji, w momencie dążenia Polski do nowoczesności i starań o uplasowanie się na wysokiej pozycji. Cicho wierzymy, iż obraz ten stanie się nową aktualną epopeją narodową. Ale mamy dobrą wiadomość! Drodzy rodacy, nie przejmujmy się, nie dzieje się to tylko u nas! Mamy tak samo jak reszta świata, więc nie może nas już trapić odwieczny kompleks Zachodu! Na dodatek radośnie w sposób niezaangażowany podążamy w stronę dekadencji i hedonizmu. Gratulujemy, w tym konkursie wygraliśmy wszyscy! – słowo od The Krasnals.
