Wystawa Jana Brykczyńskiego ,,BOIKO'' w Leica Gallery w Warszawie
Leica Gallery w Warszawie zaprasza na wernisaż wystawy Jana Brykczyńskiego ,, BOIKO'' w piątek 8 sierpnia 2014 r. o godz. 20:00.
„BOIKO” to fotograficzna opowieść o dawnym życiu na wsi w Europie. Dzieje się jednak współcześnie, w Ukraińskich Karpatach. W miejscu gdzie magia przeplata się z rzeczywistością. Właśnie tam Jan Brykczyński znalazł świat, który znał jedynie z bajek opowiadanych mu w dzieciństwie. To miejsce stało się urzeczywistnieniem jego wyobrażeń o wiejskiej idylli. I o tym miejscu, o jego mieszkańcach, ich życiu odciętym od świata, zanurzonym w tradycji i wierzeniach jest „BOIKO”. W czerwcu 2013 premierę miała książka fotograficzna prezentująca ten projekt. Publikacja wraz z wystawą w Leica Gallery Warszawa będzie najszerszą dotychczasową prezentacją projektu. W 2009 roku, Jan Brykczyński trafił do oddalonej o kilka kilometrów od polskiej granicy wsi w Ukraiński Karpatach. Wracał tam przez kolejne trzy lata. Powoli zdobywał zaufanie mieszkańców, odizolowanych od świata górami. Kroku po kroku pokazywali mu swoje życie, w którym zdarzenia w pierwszym rzędzie mają przyczyny magiczne, myśli mają moc sprawczą, biała magia zmaga się z czarną, a dobro ze złem. Dla nich najważniejsza jest tradycja, w której są mocno zakorzenieni i czerpią z niej siłę do życia w trudnych górskich warunkach. Ich codzienność, dla osoby z zewnątrz, jest tak samo realna, jak i nierzeczywista. Najbardziej przypomina archetypowe obrazy wsi jakie funkcjonują jeszcze ciągle w naszej kulturze. Ta bajkowość, oniryczność i surrealność przebija ze zdjęć Jana Brykczyńskiego.
„Ci Bojkowie to najdziwniejsze plemię Karpat wzdłuż i wszerz. Z nikim innym nie ma tyle kłopotu. Bojkowie są trochę niemi. Nie są zdolni opowiedzieć o sobie” pisze Taras Prochaśko, a Jan Brykczyński opowiada własną historię życia w górskiej wsi na Ukrainie.
Jan Brykczyński, ur. 1979 r., zajmuje się dokumentem fotograficznym. Jest członkiem i współzałożycielem kolektywu Sputnik Photos. W swojej pracy często skupia się na europejskich peryferiach, podejmując temat złożonych relacji człowieka z przyrodą. Stypendysta Funduszu Wyszechradzkiego i Ministra Kultury. Laureat wielu konkursów fotograficznych, m.in. 2013 The European Photo Exhibition Award i The Syngenta Photography Award. Reprezentowany przez agencję fotograficzną Anzenberger w Wiedniu. Razem z żoną i córką mieszka w Warszawie.
Wystawę można oglądać od 9 sierpnia do 7 września 2014 r.
